How to measure
- Measure over your bunker pants, not your waist — the pants you’ll wear it with, adjusted to where you wear them.
- Pull the tape snug, not tight.
- Order the range your number falls in.
- Suspender clips on? Measure with them fastened.
Care & what not to do
Shipping & returns
Made to order in 5–6 weeks, then UPS with tracking. Custom-stamped pieces can’t be returned, but sizing or workmanship problems get fixed or remade at no charge — email me first.
Every detail, up close
The parts you cannot see in a catalog photo are the parts that fail first on cheap gear. Here is what you are actually buying.

Built for the job
Measured with the bunker pants you will actually wear it with, adjusted to where you wear them — not a street waist.
Hook and Loop, COBRA Quick Release, or COBRA with a D-ring, all on the same 2" belt.
Copper rivets behind the buckle and the tail, where a belt eventually tears.
Heavy enough to carry a loaded bucket without rolling, tempered so it breaks in without going limp.
Stitching, hardware, resizing — send back anything I made and I'll put it right. You pay shipping.
How this differs
| Detail | This belt | Mass-made |
|---|---|---|
| Length | Cut to your gear | S / M / L |
| Hardware | Solid brass / steel | Plated zinc |
| Repairs | For life, by me | Replace it |
| Made by | Our family bench, Indiana | Overseas line |
Not NFPA-certified PPE — traditional veg-tanned leather gear. Check your department policy before you carry it on the fireground.
How your belt gets made
Nothing is cut before you order. Five weeks of bench time, in this order.
Measurements read against the pants you sent in. If something looks off, I call before a knife touches the hide.
02Laid out on a single Hermann Oak side, around scars and stretchy belly, so your belt is one continuous piece.
03Name, department, or badge struck in 1 inch letters. Hardware riveted at the stress points.
Stitched, then hardware riveted at the buckle and tail. Nothing gets rushed to hit a ship date.
05Edges slicked and waxed, leather oiled once, then UPS with a care card.
Testimonials
Thank you for being a great small business! From concept to design to finished product Martin Leatherworking was great. I purchased a radio strap with a custom pocket, a helmet shield with personal design and a belt for my bunkers. I am very happy with how everything turned out and the craftsmanship is obviously done with skill and care.
Collect 6–10 in the customer’s own words — rank or name, department, and what they ordered. A photo of the belt in service beats any star rating. Ask permission to reuse the ones already on Facebook.
Sizing & FAQ
How long until my order ships?
5–6 weeks from when you order — everything is made after the order comes in. Rush placement is +$60 and ships in 10 business days.
Can you match my department's specs?
Usually. Send the spec sheet or a photo of an approved piece through the custom order form and I'll tell you straight whether I can match it.
Do you do department or bulk orders?
Yes — six pieces or more gets bulk pricing and one invoice. Purchase orders are fine; net 30 for departments.
Can I return a custom piece?
Returns are accepted on non-custom items. Everything here is made to order, though — once it's cut to your stamp, stain, and size, it's final sale. If the fit or workmanship is wrong, I fix or remake it at no charge — email me first.
